Each and every time I go to Jamaica, in some way it’s always epic. It could be that my roots are there, close family is there, or the fact that I grew up going there every year and then lived there for four years out of my childhood life. Whatever it is, when I look out of that plane window and I see that island approaching, a feeling of straight euphoria and excitement takes over and I can’t get off of that plane fast enough!
But, this trip was bittersweet. The family came together to send off my wonderful, amazing, one of kind, one in a million, diamond in the ruff, Uncle B. A man that had the most jovial, good-natured, free-spirited way about him that I have never seen in anyone. A man that was big on teaching us about our roots and to never forget them. A man that was BIG on family. Although we mourned, we celebrated his life, and celebrated each other, something he loved. I reunited with family I haven’t seen since we were kids, and met some great new friends. Sleep in peace Uncle B! Even in death you brought nothing but joy to your loved ones! You’ll forever have a spot etched in my heart!
